Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 375°F. Grease a jelly roll pan.
2.Sift together the flour, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, nutmeg, and baking soda into a mixing bowl. Add a small amount of water and mix into a thick dough.
3.In another saucepan, melt together the honey and sugar. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly, and boil for 2 minutes.
4.Add the honey-sugar mixture to the flour mixture and mix well.
5.Fold in the almonds, candied orange peel, and lemon zest.
6.Pour the mixture onto the greased jelly roll pan and spread it to fill all corners.
7.Bake at 375°F for 18-20 minutes or until the cookie dough is set, however do not overbake.
8.Remove from oven and let them cool before cutting into squares.
