Instructions

1.In a large bowl, mix the softened butter, lukewarm milk, yeast, sugar, and warm water. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
2.Add 3/4 cup sugar, salt, eggs, and 8 cups of flour. Mix well.
3.Knead the dough until smooth. Let it sit for 10 minutes.
4.In a small saucepan, whisk together 1 cup of milk, egg yolk, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/3 cup sugar, and 2 tablespoons of flour over low heat until thickened.
5.In a separate bowl, mix 1/2 cup of butter, 3/4 cup of sugar, oats, 2 teaspoons of almond extract, and 1/2 cup of flour.
6.Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
7.Roll the dough out to about 1/2 inch in thickness.
8.Spread the milk mixture over the dough. Sprinkle the almond mixture evenly over the top.
9.Roll up the dough tightly, tucking in the sides.
10.Slice the roll into 24 equal pieces.
11.Place the slices on a greased baking pan and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
12.In a bowl, mix 1 cup of powdered sugar, 2-3 tablespoons of milk or cream, and 1 teaspoon of almond extract.
13.Drizzle the glaze over the warm Danish pastry and sprinkle slivered or sliced almonds on top.
