This recipe is quick and easy to make and requires no yeast or rising time, making it perfect for beginner bakers. Serve the bread with your favourite toppings for a delicious and satisfying meal.

Instructions

1.Preheat your oven to 200C/180C fan/gas mark 6 and line a baking tray with baking paper.
2.In a bowl, mix together the white flour, wholemeal flour, baking powder, and caster sugar. Add in the butter and use your fingers to rub it in until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
3.Stir in the buttermilk and sour cream, followed by the cheddar cheese and fried onions. Mix until everything is combined into a ball of dough.
4.Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and shape into a round. Use a sharp knife to score a deep cross into the top of the bread.
5.Transfer the bread to the lined baking tray and bake in the preheated oven for around 40-45 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
6.Allow the bread to cool on a wire rack before slicing and serving.
