8 ounces milk
1/2 vanilla bean , split lengthwise
1 large egg
1 large egg yolk
3 tablespoons sugar
1 ounce dark semi-sweet chocolate , grated

Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 350°F.
2.Grease an 8-inch springform pan.
3.In a mixing bowl, beat the egg whites until frothy, then gradually add the superfine sugar and beat until stiff peaks form.
4.Gently fold in the chocolate pastry cream.
5.Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and bake for 25 minutes.
6.Mix the cornstarch and milk in a saucepan.
7.Scrape the seeds from the vanilla bean and add to the milk mixture.
8.Whisk in the egg, egg yolk, and sugar, and heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens.
9.Remove from heat and add the grated chocolate, stirring until smooth.
10.Gently release the torte from the pan and dust with confectioners' sugar.
