Ingredients

3 cups self raising flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
2 teaspoons sugar
2 tablespoons vegemite , dissolved in
1/2 cup milk
1 stubby beer ( you wont need it all )
1 cup tasty cheese , cut into 1 centimetre cubes
Vegemite Damper is a popular Australian bread that has been enjoyed for generations. Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 200°C. Grease a large baking tray.
2.Sift flour, salt, baking powder and bicarbonate of soda into a large bowl. Stir in sugar. Make a well in the centre.
3.Add dissolved Vegemite mixture to the well. Stir until well combined.
4.Gradually stir in enough beer until a sticky dough forms. Turn out onto a lightly floured surface.
5.Knead for 2 to 3 minutes or until smooth. Press out to a 20cm round.
6.Place on prepared tray. Using a sharp knife, cut a shallow cross in the centre. Insert cheese cubes into cuts. Brush with a little beer.
7.Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until damper is cooked through. Serve warm or at room temperature.
