2 tablespoons sugar ( or to taste )

Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
2.In a medium saucepan, heat milk over medium heat until it simmers, then remove from heat.
3.Whisk together eggs, sugar, salt, and vanilla seeds in a large bowl until fully combined.
4.Slowly whisk in hot milk, and then stir in cherry brandy.
5.Pour custard mixture into a 9-inch baking dish, and then place the dish in a larger baking dish with enough water to come up at least an inch.
6.Bake for 45-50 minutes until the top of the custard is golden brown and set.
7.Once done, remove from oven and chill for at least 2 hours or overnight.
8.Make the cherry sauce by combining sour cherries, sugar, and cinnamon in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
9.Cook until the cherries are soft and the sugar has dissolved.
10.Set aside and let the sauce cool.
11.To serve, spoon some cherry sauce over each custard and garnish with chocolate sprinkles, a mint leaf, and fresh cherries (if desired).
