Ingredients

50 g split Urad Dal
100 g boneless skinless chicken
1 teaspoon garlic ( crushed )
1 teaspoon ginger ( crushed )
2 teaspoons black pepper
1 teaspoon red chile
salt ( to taste )
oil ( for frying )
2 large potatoes , diced
3 tomatoes , diced
1 medium onion , sliced
2 tablespoons oil
1 teaspoon cumin seed
3/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
3/4 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon coriander powder
salt
1 cup water
1/2 teaspoon garam masala
Vadi Aloo is a classic North Indian dish that is a favorite among many households. It is a spicy and delicious curry made with boneless chicken pieces and potatoes. Instructions

1.Soak split urad dal in water for 2-3 hours. Drain the excess water and set aside.
2.In a mixing bowl, add chicken pieces, crushed garlic and ginger, black pepper, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well and marinate for 20-30 minutes.
3.Heat oil in a frying pan and fry the soaked urad dal until golden brown. Drain on a paper towel and set aside.
4.In the same pan, add diced potatoes and fry until lightly browned. Remove from oil and set aside.
5.In a saucepan, heat 2 tablespoons of oil and add cumin seeds. Fry until fragrant.
6.Add sliced onions and fry until translucent. Add diced tomatoes and cook until the tomatoes are soft.
7.Add turmeric powder, chili powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well.
8.Add water and bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes.
9.Add fried chicken and potatoes to the saucepan. Mix well.
10.Crush the fried urad dal and add it to the mixture.
11.Let the mixture simmer for another 5-7 minutes.
12.Add garam masala and mix well. Remove from heat and serve hot.
