Ingredients

1/2 kg prawns
4 onions , finely chopped
1 tablespoon turmeric powder
2 tablespoons red chili powder
1/2 teaspoon asafoetida powder
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
1/4 teaspoon fenugreek seeds
1/2 cup tamarind pulp , thick juice ( soak tamarind in water to extract juice )
1 cup oil
5 -6 cloves garlic , chopped
1/2 cup fresh coriander leaves , packed , chopped

Instructions

1.Clean and devein the prawns. Keep them aside.
2.In a large mixing bowl, mix chopped onions, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix it well and keep it aside.
3.In a separate pan, heat oil on a medium flame and add the mustard seeds and fenugreek seeds. Cook until the seeds start to splutter.
4.Add chopped garlic and hing powder to the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes until garlic turns brown.
5.Add the onion and spice mixture to the pan and cook for 5-7 minutes until the onions turn soft.
6.Add the prawns to the pan and stir continuously. Cook until the prawns turn golden brown.
7.Add the tamarind pulp to the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes until well combined.
8.Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve.
