Ingredients

1 cup rice flour
1 cup water
1 teaspoon ghee
1/2 teaspoon oil
salt
2 cups grated fresh coconut
1 cup powdered jaggery
1 teaspoon rice flour
1 teaspoon poppy seed ( khus khus-roasted )
3 -4 cardamoms ( ground into a powder )
Ukadiche Modak is one of the most popular snacks in Maharashtra, especially during the Ganesh Chaturthi festival. It is a traditional sweet dish made with rice flour dough that is stuffed with a filling of grated coconut and jaggery. The dish is steam-cooked to perfection and garnished with a sprinkle of roasted poppy seeds and grated coconut on top. The dish is not only delicious but also has several health benefits. Instructions

1.In a pan, add grated coconut and jaggery.
2.Cook the mixture over low flame until the jaggery melts and the mixture becomes sticky.
3.Add in the cardamom powder and poppy seeds. Mix well and keep aside.
4.In a separate pan, add water, ghee, oil, and salt. Bring the mixture to a boil.
5.Slowly add the rice flour to the pan while stirring continuously to prevent lumps.
6.Mix well and turn off the heat.
7.Allow the dough to cool down a bit and then knead it until it becomes soft and smooth.
8.Take a small portion of the dough and make a ball. Flatten it and shape it like a cup.
9.Add in a spoonful of the coconut mixture and seal the edges. Make similar modaks with the remaining dough and coconut mixture.
10.Steam the modaks in a steamer for 10-12 minutes.
