Ingredients

2 tablespoons oil
2 large onions , chopped
1 cup barley ( uncooked )
5 cups well-seasoned stock
2 cups buttermilk or 2 cups yogurt
1 teaspoon dill weed
1 pat margarine ( or butter )

Instructions

1.Rinse the barley and then soak it in water for at least an hour.

4.Add the stock and bring the soup to a boil. Reduce the heat, cover the pot and let it simmer for 40 minutes.

7.Add salt, pepper, and dill. Cook for another few minutes before serving.
8.Melt the margarine or butter in a pan and drizzle on top of the soup before serving.
