Ingredients

12 fresh organic eggs
6 -8 onion skins ( red and yellow )
aluminium aluminum foil
natural non-coloured string
butter ( optional )
beetroot water ( optional ) or spinach water ( optional )
Traditional Easter Marbled Pace Eggs, also known as Pysanky, are a Ukrainian tradition that involves decorating eggs with intricate designs using a wax-resist method. This recipe offers a simplified version of Pysanky that utilizes onion skins to create a beautiful marbled effect on the boiled eggs. The eggs are a great addition to any Easter brunch or can be enjoyed as a fun and unique snack.

Instructions

1.Place the organic eggs in a large pot and fill with cold water.
2.Add the onion skins, making sure they are evenly distributed throughout the water.
3.Bring to a boil and then simmer for 20 minutes.
4.Remove from heat and allow to cool for a few minutes.
5.Carefully crack the eggshells all over but do not remove them.
6.Using natural non-coloured string, tightly wrap the eggs with the onion skins and place each one on a piece of aluminium aluminum foil.
7.Bring the edges of the foil up and twist together at the top to create a sealed parcel.
8.Place the parcels back in the pot of water and simmer for another 45 minutes.
9.Remove from heat and leave the parcels to cool completely.
10.Unwrap and enjoy the beautiful marbled design that the onion skins have created on the eggs!
