Ingredients

5 cloves garlic
1 carton 1 % low fat cottage cheese
1/2 cup block-style fat free cream cheese
1/4 cup fresh romano cheese , grated & divided
2 1/2 teaspoons dried basil
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1 large egg
1 bottle tomato-basil pasta sauce ( such as Muir Glen )
cooking spray
12 cooked lasagna noodles
1 cup chopped prosciutto or 1 cup ham
1 cup part-skim mozzarella cheese , shredded
Tomato-Basil Lasagna with Prosciutto is a twist on the classic Italian dish. It combines tender lasagna noodles with a tomato-basil sauce, creamy cottage and cream cheese filling, and salty prosciutto. The dish is topped with a layer of melted mozzarella cheese, offering a rich and satisfying flavor profile. This lasagna can be served as a main dish for dinner or a lunchtime treat.

Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
2.In a large skillet, cook garlic over medium heat until fragrant. Add in the pasta sauce and simmer for 10 minutes.
3.In a mixing bowl, combine cottage cheese, cream cheese, half of the romano cheese, basil, crushed red pepper flakes, and egg. Mix until well combined.
4.Spray a 13x9-inch baking dish with cooking spray. Spread a thin layer of the sauce on the bottom of the dish.
5.Cover with 4 lasagna noodles, making sure they slightly overlap each other. Spread half of the cheese mixture over the noodles, followed by half the prosciutto and a third of the mozzarella.
6.Cover with 4 more lasagna noodles, then add the remaining cheese mixture and prosciutto, followed by another third of the mozzarella.
7.Top with the remaining 4 lasagna noodles and spoon the rest of the sauce over the noodles. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella and romano cheese over the top.
8.Bake for 30 to 45 minutes, or until hot and bubbly.
