Ingredients

12 chipolata sausages
1 tablespoon sunflower oil
140 g plain flour
2 eggs
175 ml 1 % low-fat milk
Toad in the Hole is a classic British dish that has been around for centuries. It's unclear where the name comes from, but some theories suggest that it refers to the sausages peeking out of the batter and resembling toads in a pond. Whatever the origin, Toad in the Hole is a comforting and hearty meal that is perfect for chilly evenings. The sausages are cooked until brown and juicy, while the Yorkshire pudding batter is crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 220°C/200°C fan/gas mark 7.
2.Put the sausages in a 30cm x 20cm roasting tin with 1 tbsp of sunflower oil. Cook for 10 minutes.
3.While the sausages are cooking, make the batter by sifting the plain flour into a bowl and making a well in the centre. Beat the eggs into the centre and gradually incorporate the flour. Pour in the milk, stirring constantly, until you have a smooth batter.
4.Once the sausages have had 10 minutes in the oven, remove the tin from the oven and pour the batter over the sausages. Return the tin to the oven and cook for a further 25-30 minutes, until the batter is risen and golden.
5.Serve with peas and gravy.
