Ingredients

1/2 teaspoon plus 2 cups butter , divided
2 cups sugar
1 cup slivered almonds
1 cup milk chocolate chips
1 cup chopped walnuts
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup vanilla or 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
1 1/2 teaspoons shortening

Instructions

1.Grease a 15x10 inch baking pan with 1/2 teaspoon butter.
2.In a large heavy saucepan, melt the remaining 2 cups of butter over low heat.
3.Add sugar; cook and stir over medium heat until the mixture turns a light amber color.
4.Stir in almonds; cook until the candy turns a medium amber color (about 10 minutes).
5.Pour into prepared pan.
6.Let it cool for a few minutes.
7.Sprinkle milk chocolate chips over candy.
8.Let it melt for 2-3 minutes, then spread the chocolate to cover the candy.
9.Sprinkle with chopped walnuts and then let it cool.
10.Melt semi-sweet chocolate and white chocolate separately in microwave or double boiler with 3/4 teaspoon shortening per 1/2 cup.
11.Drizzle over cooled candy in a decorative pattern.
12.Break into pieces for serving.
