Ingredients

1 lb potato , peeled and chopped for boiling
1 lb swede or 1 lb rutabaga , peeled and chopped
1 medium onion , chopped
2 tablespoons chopped chives
3 ounces butter
The Broon's Clapshot is a traditional Scottish side dish that has been enjoyed for generations. It is made with mashed potatoes and swede (or rutabaga) and is flavored with butter, onions, and chives. This dish is perfect for cold winter nights and goes well with roasted meats. Instructions

1.Boil the chopped potatoes and swede in salted water for 20-25 minutes, or until tender.
2.Meanwhile, melt the butter in a pan and fry the chopped onions until they are translucent.
3.Once the potatoes and swede are cooked, drain them thoroughly and return them to the pan.
4.Mash the potatoes and swede together, then add the fried onions and chopped chives.
5.Stir all the ingredients together well and season with salt and pepper to taste.
6.Serve hot as a delicious side dish.
