The Big Apple Pie is an all-time American dessert classic that everyone should try. This dessert's history dates back to the 14th century, where pies were filled with meat and served as savory dishes. However, the apple pie as we know it today developed in the 18th and 19th centuries in America, where the settlers added sugar and spices to their apple fillings. The Big Apple Pie is perfect for a family gathering, Sunday brunch or special occasions. The recipe uses Granny Smith apples as they are crisp, tart and hold their shape well when cooked. The cinnamon and butter perfectly complement the apple filling, providing the perfect balance of flavors. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra indulgent dessert experience.
