Ingredients

3 -5 cloves garlic , minced
1 medium egg , beaten
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 tablespoon rice wine
1 tablespoon fish sauce
3 tablespoons sweet dark soy sauce
2 tablespoons oyster sauce
1 tablespoon palm sugar
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 tablespoon freshly ground ginger
1 tablespoon chopped green onion
1 1 tablespoon red onions or 1 tablespoon purple onion
1 tablespoon thinly sliced Thai red chili pepper ( optional )
8 ounces beef
8 ounces fresh wide rice noodles , if available , or you may use our rice noodles
1 tablespoon fish sauce
1 tablespoon palm sugar
2 tablespoons oyster sauce
2 tablespoons sweet dark soy sauce
1 cup broccoli floret
1/2 cup coconut milk ( optional )
Pad Si-iew, also known as Thai Stir Fried Wide Rice Noodles, is a popular street food and comfort food in Thailand. This dish is typically made with wide rice noodles, meat, vegetables and a sweet and salty sauce. It is a quick and easy dish that can be made in under 30 minutes and is perfect for weeknight dinners. The dish is usually made with beef, but can also be made with chicken, pork or even tofu.

Instructions

1.Mix cornstarch, rice wine and fish sauce in a bowl before adding the beaten egg into the mixture. Mix until well combined and set aside.
2.In a wok, heat the vegetable oil until hot but not smoking. Fry the garlic until fragrant, then add the egg mixture and stir for 1-2 minutes or until the egg is cooked.
3.Add the palm sugar, oyster sauce, sweet dark soy sauce, sesame oil, black pepper, ginger, green onion, red onion and Thai chili pepper, stirring until well combined.
4.Add in the beef and stir until it's well coated with the mixture.
5.Add the rice noodles, fish sauce and palm sugar and stir until the noodles are softened and well coated with the sauce.
6.Add the broccoli and stir for another minute.
7.Add 1/2 cup of coconut milk, if using.
8.Serve hot.

CONS

This dish contains a high amount of sodium due to the use of oyster sauce and fish sauce.
If coconut milk is added, it increases the calorie count of the dish.

This dish contains protein, vitamin C, vitamin K and dietary fiber. Broccoli is a cruciferous vegetable and has anti-inflammatory properties. However, excessive use of oyster sauce and fish sauce increases the sodium levels and should be consumed in moderation.
