Ingredients

1 pound ground beef
3 tablespoons chili seasoning mix
2 chipotle peppers in adobo sauce , minced
1/2 fluid ounce beer
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 chipotle pepper in adobo sauce , minced
6 slices white bread
6 slices pepperjack cheese
A patty melt is a classic diner staple that combines the juicy goodness of a burger with the crispy crunch of grilled bread and melty cheese. This Tex-Mex version takes things up a notch by adding some smoky spice with the addition of chipotle peppers and chili seasoning. The resulting sandwich is an indulgent treat that is perfect for a weekend lunch or dinner.

Instructions

1.In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, chili seasoning mix, minced chipotle peppers, and beer until well mixed.
2.Form the mixture into six equal-sized patties.
3.Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and cook the patties for 3-4 minutes per side, or until cooked to your liking.
4.While the patties are cooking, stir together the mayonnaise and minced chipotle pepper in a small bowl.
5.Once the patties are cooked, remove them from the skillet and set aside.
6.Place a slice of pepperjack cheese on each slice of bread and broil in the oven until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
7.To assemble the sandwiches, spread the chipotle mayo on one side of each slice of bread. Place a patty on top of one slice of bread, and then top with the other slice of bread and cheese.

PROS

Juicy and flavorful beef patties with a spicy kick in every bite.

Melty pepperjack cheese and tangy chipotle mayo round out the sandwich nicely.

CONS

This recipe is high in calories and sodium, and the bread and cheese can make it quite filling.

In order to make it slightly healthier, you could skip the mayo or use a low-fat version, and serve it with a side salad instead of fries.

HEALTH & BENEFITS

With plenty of protein from the beef and some spice from the chipotle peppers, this sandwich can help you feel full and satisfied for longer.
However, it is important to note that processed meats like ground beef can increase your risk of heart disease and other health issues.
