Ingredients

5 tablespoons sushi rice
3 slices tuna , cut into small , thick slices 1 . 5 in x 1 . 5 in x 1/8 ( sushi grade raw tuna or salmon or skip the fish and use avocado )
1 tablespoon chives , minced ( optional garnish )
1 teaspoon tobiko , optional garnish ( flying fish roe or salmon roe )
1 teaspoon black sesame seed , optional garnish
1 teaspoon teriyaki sauce
1 tablespoon soy sauce ( optional )
1 teaspoon wasabi ( optional )

Instructions

1.Rinse the sushi rice in cold water until the water runs clear. Drain the rice and place it in a saucepan with 3/4 cup of water. Bring the water to a boil, reduce heat to low, and cook the rice covered for 15 minutes. Remove from heat and let stand for 10 minutes.
2.In a small bowl, mix together the teriyaki sauce and soy sauce. Set aside.
3.Once the rice has cooled down slightly, take about 1 tablespoon of rice and shape it into a ball.
4.Place a slice of tuna or a piece of avocado on top of the rice ball.
5.Drizzle the teriyaki and soy sauce mixture over the fish or avocado.
6.Garnish with minced chives, tobiko, and black sesame seeds as desired. Serve with wasabi on the side.
