Ingredients

1 cup bengal gram dal , split lentil
2 cups green lentils
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 pinch asafoetida powder
1 teaspoon ghee
1 cup yellow lentils
4 -5 green chilies
2 sprigs fresh curry leaves , washed and torn
1/2 teaspoon cumin seed
1 inch piece fresh ginger , finely chopped
3 dried red chilies
salt
1 tablespoon fresh coriander leaves , for garnishing
Teedali Poath is a traditional dish from Maharashtra, a state in western India. It is commonly eaten for breakfast or lunch and is often served with rice or naan bread. Instructions

1.Rinse the lentils in cold water and drain them in a colander.
2.In a large pot, add the lentils and 8 cups of water. Bring to a boil.
3.Reduce heat to medium-low, add turmeric and asafoetida powder to the pot and cook for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
4.Heat ghee in a small skillet and add cumin seeds. Cook for a few minutes and then add chopped ginger, dried red chilies, and fresh curry leaves to the skillet. Stir and sauté until the spices are well toasted.
5.Add this spice mix to the pot containing cooked lentils, and green chilies. Cook for about 5 minutes.
6.Adjust salt to taste.
7.Remove from heat and garnish with coriander leaves.
