Ingredients

1/2 cup tamarind paste
1/2 cup dates , deseeded
2 cups water
1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
1/2 teaspoon ginger powder
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 3/4 cup brown sugar or 3/4 cup sugar

Instructions

1.In a saucepan, soak the dates and tamarind paste in 2 cups of water for 30 minutes.
2.After 30 minutes, mix well and strain through a sieve.
3.Combine the strained mixture with the red chili powder, cumin powder, ginger powder, salt and brown sugar.
4.Cook on low heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar is completely dissolved and the mixture has thickened to the consistency of ketchup.
5.Remove from heat and cool before serving. Refrigerate for longer storage.
