Ingredients

4 tablespoons olive oil
1 lb carrot
2 onions
8 garlic cloves , roasted is better
2 teaspoons salt
3 cans crushed tomatoes in puree
3 cans tomato paste
1 can water
2 tablespoons oregano
2 tablespoons parsley
2 tablespoons sweet basil
4 envelopes spaghetti sauce mix , if not using the above 3 ingredients
salt and pepper , to taste as sauce cooks
2 2 lbs skinned bratwursts ( optional ) or 2 lbs ground beef , for a milder taste ( optional )

Instructions

1.Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat

4.Add roasted garlic, salt, oregano, parsley, sweet basil, and spaghetti sauce mix (if not using the above 3 ingredients)
5.Bring marinara sauce to a boil
6.Simmer for 30 minutes or until it reaches desired thickness
7.If using meat, brown it in a separate skillet before adding to the sauce
8.Season with salt and pepper to taste as sauce cooks
9.Serve over your favorite pasta or use as a dipping sauce for breadsticks
