1/2 cup pecans , chopped

Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
2.In a medium bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
3.Beat in the egg, vanilla extract and salt.

5.For Swedish Butter Strips: Mix in chocolate chips. For Maple Pecan Strips: Mix in maple flavoring and pecans.
6.Divide the dough into two parts and roll each part into a rectangle the length of the cookie sheet.
7.Cut each rectangle in half lengthwise, and then slice the strips diagonally to make diamond shapes.
8.Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
9.Allow to cool for a minute on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
