Surmælksfrugtbrød or Danish Sour-Cream Fruit Bread is a traditional bread recipe from Denmark that has been passed down for generations. Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
2.In a large bowl, mix sugar, white flour, whole wheat flour, baking soda, baking powder, dried apricot, dried prune, salt, and chopped almonds.
3.In a separate bowl, mix together beaten egg, sour cream, melted butter, grated lemon rind, and vanilla.
4.Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until well blended.
5.Pour the batter into a greased 9 x 5 inch loaf pan.
6.Bake for 1 hour, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the bread comes out clean.
7.Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove from the pan and cool completely on a wire rack.
8.Optional: Dust with powdered sugar and garnish with candied fruit before slicing and serving.
