1 egg ( beaten )
2 cups sour cream
2 tablespoons melted butter
1 cup almonds ( chopped )
2 tablespoons lemon rind ( grated )
1 teaspoon vanilla
powdered sugar ( optional )
candied fruit ( optional )
Surmælksfrugtbrød is a traditional Danish bread commonly served for breakfast or as a snack. Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
2.Combine the sugar, white flour, whole wheat flour, baking soda, baking powder, chopped dried apricots, chopped dried prunes, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
3.Add the beaten egg, sour cream, melted butter, chopped almonds, grated lemon rind and vanilla to the dry ingredients.
4.Stir until well combined and pour the mixture into a greased loaf pan.
5.Bake in preheated oven for 55-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the bread comes out clean.
6.Let the bread cool for a few minutes before serving. Optional: sprinkle powdered sugar and candied fruit on top. Enjoy!
