French Dip Sandwiches are a classic American dish that originated in Los Angeles in the early 20th century. They are typically made with thin slices of roast beef and served on a long French roll, with a bowl of au jus (a meaty dipping sauce) on the side for dipping. This recipe is a modern twist on the classic dish, using a slow cooker to cook the beef for maximum tenderness and flavor. The result is a hearty sandwich that is perfect for a casual family dinner or a game day party.

Instructions

1.Season the rump roast generously with salt and pepper.
2.Place the roast in the crock pot and add the beef broth and French onion soup.
3.Cook on low for 8-10 hours.
4.When the roast is tender, remove it from the crock pot and shred with a fork.
5.Cut the French rolls in half and butter each half.
6.Toast the rolls in the oven until golden brown.
7.Divide the shredded beef among the rolls and serve each sandwich with a bowl of the cooking liquid (as au jus) for dipping.

PROS

These sandwiches are incredibly flavorful and easy to make.

The crock pot does most of the work for you, and the recipe requires very few ingredients.

CONS

This recipe makes a large quantity, so it may not be ideal for a small family or group.

The sandwiches can be messy to eat since they are served with a bowl of au jus for dipping.

HEALTH & BENEFITS

While this recipe is not particularly healthy, rump roast is a lean cut of beef and can be a good source of protein if consumed in moderation. Additionally, the recipe does not require any added sugar or other unhealthy ingredients.
