Ingredients

8 oval ripe firm tomatoes ( egg-shaped )
1 tablespoon butter
1/4 cup onion , peeled and finely chopped
2 cups mushrooms , washed , drained and chopped ( Use fresh/canned , but be sure to wash the canned ones in plenty of water before proceeding )
1 cup cheddar cheese , grated
2 green chilies , chopped
1 tablespoon coriander leaves , chopped
1 tablespoon mint leaf , chopped
1 - 1 1/2 cup gram flour
1 teaspoon chat masala
salt
oil , to deep fry

Instructions

1.Cut the tops of the tomatoes, and scoop out the pulp, leaving the walls about 1/4 inch thick.
2.In a pan, melt butter and sauté onion until translucent.
3.Add the chopped mushrooms and cook over medium heat for 5 minutes.
4.Add grated cheese, green chilies, coriander leaves and mint leaf. Mix well and set aside.
5.In a bowl, mix gram flour, chat masala, salt and enough water to make a thick batter.
6.Stuff the mushrooms mixture into the tomatoes.
7.Heat oil in a pan for deep frying.
8.Dip the stuffed tomatoes into gram flour batter and drop carefully into oil.
9.Fry until golden brown.
10.Serve hot with mint or tamarind chutney.
