Ingredients

1 1/2 lbs ground beef
1/2 lb Italian sausage , Casings Removed
1 small onion , finely chopped
6 garlic cloves , finely chopped
1 tablespoon dried Italian seasoning
2 tablespoons goya light adobo seasoning
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 cup pizza sauce , plus more for spreading on rolls ( recipe follows )
1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
6 kaiser rolls ( Or any rolls you like )
1 can crushed tomatoes ( preferably San Marzano )
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes ( optional )
1 tablespoon melted butter
1 teaspoon salt
6 fresh basil leaves , chiffonade ( pile basil leaves , roll them up lengthwise , then slice across )

Instructions

1.Preheat grill to medium-high heat
2.In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, Italian sausage, onion, garlic, Italian seasoning, and goya light adobo seasoning. Mix well and divide the mixture into 12 equal portions.
3.Take one portion and form a ball, flatten it into a small patty.
4.Place a tablespoon of pizza sauce and a teaspoon of shredded mozzarella cheese at the center, and top with another small patty. Pinch the edges together to seal the filling.
5.Grill the burgers for 4-5 minutes per side or until cooked through.
6.Slice the kaiser rolls in half and spread pizza sauce on one side. Add a burger to each roll and top with more pizza sauce, shredded mozzarella cheese, and fresh basil leaves.
7.Melt butter in a pan and mix it with crushed tomatoes, oregano, crushed red pepper flakes, and salt. Heat it for a few minutes until it thickens.
