Instructions

.Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
.In a large pot, bring water to a boil and add the whole cabbage. Cook for 10-12 minutes or until the leaves are tender. Remove from water and set aside to cool.
.In a small pot, bring rice and milk to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until the rice is cooked, approximately 15 minutes. Set aside.
.In a large bowl, mix ground pork, ground veal, salt, egg whites, and white pepper until well combined. Add cooked rice and minced onion to the meat mixture, mix until well incorporated.
.In a small saucepan, melt butter and add beef consommé, molasses, and cornstarch followed by a tablespoon of water. Stir well and cook on low heat until the sauce thickens.
.Carefully separate the leaves from the cabbage head, and using a sharp knife remove any hard parts. Cut any extra-large leaves in half.
.Lay a cabbage leaf flat, and place a small amount of meat mixture on the leaf. Roll the cabbage leaf up, tucking in the ends to make a tight bundle. Repeat until all the cabbage leaves are rolled.
.Place the cabbage rolls in an oven-safe dish and pour the sauce over them.
.Cover the dish with a lid or foil, and bake for 1 and a half hours. Remove the lid or foil and bake for another 30 minutes until the cabbage rolls are brown.
