Ingredients

1 jar marinara sauce
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 onion , sliced
1 red bell pepper , sliced
1 jalapeno pepper , sliced
1 goat horn pepper , or other hot green chile , sliced
16 slices salami
16 slices pepperoni
4 Italian-style hoagie buns , split lengthwise
1 container mascarpone cheese , divided
1/4 cup garlic basil spread , divided ( see footnote for recipe link )
1 pound mozzarella cheese , shredded
The Stromboli Grinder is a meat lover's dream sandwich. It has a spicy kick from the jalapeno and hot green chile peppers. The Italian-style hoagie buns are stuffed with salami, pepperoni, onions, red bell peppers, and an array of cheeses- mascarpone, garlic basil spread, and mozzarella cheese. The sandwich is hot, filling, and gooey inside. This sandwich is perfect for those who love to have a spicy and flavorful lunch.

Instructions

1.In a large pot, heat the marinara sauce over medium heat.
2.In a separate pan, heat the olive oil and add the onion, red bell pepper, jalapeno pepper, and hot green chile. Cook until vegetables are soft.
3.Add the salami and pepperoni to the pan and cook for another minute.
4.Split the hoagie buns and spread mascarpone cheese and garlic basil spread on the inside of each bun.
5.Fill each hoagie with the meat/vegetable mixture and sprinkle shredded mozzarella on top.
6.Place the hoagies on a baking sheet and bake at 375 degrees F for 8-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
