Strawberry and Rhubarb Rolly Polly is a classic dessert that has been enjoyed for generations. Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
2.In a large mixing bowl, sift flour, baking powder, and salt together. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add milk, and stir just until mixture forms a ball.
3.Roll out pastry on a lightly floured surface into a rectangular shape, approximately 10 x 14 inches.
4.In a bowl, mix together rhubarb, strawberries, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, and 1/3 cup white sugar. Spread mixture over pastry, leaving a 1/2 inch border all around.
5.Roll up dough lengthwise, and seal edge with water.
6.Using a sharp knife, cut into 12 equal slices and place each slice, cut side down, in a greased 9x13 inch baking dish
7.In a separate pan, bring 2 cups of water and 1 cup of white sugar to a boil, stirring until the sugar has dissolved. Pour syrup over the dough, making sure to moisten it.
8.Dot each slice with butter.
9.Bake in preheated oven for 40 to 45 minutes, until lightly browned.
