4 large ripe pears , peeled , halved and cored
125 g plain flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
125 g caster sugar
1 medium egg
200 ml milk
75 g butter , melted
100 g light brown sugar
3 tablespoons golden syrup
175 ml cold water
