2 lbs sweet potatoes , quartered lengthwise , and cut into 1/4 inch-thick or 2 lbs yams , peeled quartered lengthwise , and cut into 1/4 inch-thick ( 2 large or 3 medium to small potatoes )
nutmeg , to taste after mashed
1/2 tablespoon butter , to taste

Instructions

1.Boil sweet potatoes in a large pot of salted water until very tender, approximately 20-30 minutes.
2.Drain and return to the pot.
3.Add butter, milk, salt, brown sugar, vanilla extract, and nutmeg. Mash until smooth, adding more salt, sugar, milk, or butter to taste.
