Staffordshire oatcakes are a traditional English hotcake often served for breakfast or brunch. They are made with fine oatmeal, wholemeal flour, and yeast which gives them a distinctive slightly tangy flavor. While they may look like regular pancakes, these hotcakes have a heartier texture and nuttier taste thanks to the use of oatmeal and wholemeal flour. They are a versatile dish that can be served with sweet toppings like golden syrup or caramelized bananas, or savory toppings like cheese and bacon. This recipe yields about 10-12 hotcakes depending on the size.
