Ingredients

1 tablespoon ground coriander

2 - 2 1/2 lbs boneless sirloin steaks ( cut into 2-inch pieces or a little smaller )
3 tablespoons oil ( more if needed )
3 medium onions , chopped
3 teaspoons fresh ginger
2 tablespoons fresh minced garlic
1 -2 jalapeno pepper , seeded and finely chopped
1 cup beef broth ( optional )
3 cups coconut milk
2 tablespoons white wine vinegar
1 -2 teaspoon salt ( or to taste )

Instructions

4.Add ginger, garlic, and jalapeno pepper to the onions and cook for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant but not browned.
5.Add the spice mix to the pot and stir well for another minute.
6.Add the beef pieces to the pot and cook until browned, stirring occasionally for about 5-7 minutes.
7.Pour beef broth (if using) to the pot and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let the beef cook in the broth for about 45 minutes, until tender.
8.Add coconut milk, white wine vinegar, and salt to the pot and bring it to a simmer. Cook for an additional 5-10 minutes, uncovered, stirring occasionally, until the broth thickens.
9.Serve hot, garnished with fresh cilantro leaves and a squeeze of lime juice.
