1 cup sugar
10 large eggs , separated

2 tablespoons confectioners ' sugar

Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 350°F.
2.Grease a 9-inch springform pan and set aside.
3.In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
4.Beat in the egg yolks, one at a time.
5.In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, salt, and spices.
6.Fold the dry ingredients into the butter mixture until well combined.
7.In a clean bowl, beat the egg whites until they form stiff peaks.
8.Gently fold the egg whites into the batter until no white streaks remain.
9.Pour 1/4 cup batter into the prepared cake pan, spreading it evenly over the bottom.
10.Bake for 5 minutes, or until firm. Repeat this process, spreading each 1/4 cup of batter evenly over the previous layer, rotating the pan each time.
11.Repeat until all the batter is used up.
12.Bake the cake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
13.Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing it.
14.Dust the cake with confectioners' sugar before serving.
