Spanish Hot Chocolate, also called Chocolate a La Taza, is a traditional and famous beverage in Spain. It is not your typical hot chocolate with whipped cream and marshmallows. It’s much thicker, creamier, and richer than regular hot chocolate. The texture is smooth, velvety, and almost pudding-like. It is traditionally served with churros or other sweet pastries for dipping, but you can also enjoy it on its own. It’s perfect for breakfast, snack, or dessert, especially during the colder months. This recipe yields four servings.

Instructions

1.In a bowl, mix cornflour and 1/2 cup of milk, ensuring no lumps are present.
2.In a saucepan, pour the remaining milk and heat on low heat.
3.Once heated, add the chocolate to the saucepan and stir until it is fully melted and no lumps are present.
4.Next, add sugar and stir until dissolved.
5.Then, pour in the cornflour/milk mixture and stir until the mixture becomes smooth and thick.
6.Serve hot in cups or mugs and enjoy!
