Ingredients

1 cup cornstarch
1 teaspoon orange food color powder
4 cups water
3 cups sugar
1 cup light brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg ( an intoxicant which means it is not halal , may substitute less allspice )
1/2 cup oil
1/2 cup butter or 1/2 cup ghee
1/4 cup peanuts ( optional )

Instructions

4.Heat the mixture over medium-high heat, stirring constantly, until it comes to a boil.

6.Add the oil, butter or ghee, and peanuts to the pot and stir well to combine.
7.Cook the mixture for another 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it becomes thick and glossy.
8.Remove the pot from heat and let the halwa cool for a few minutes before transferring it to a greased pan.
9.Smooth the surface of the halwa and let it cool completely before cutting it into squares or diamonds.
