Instructions

1.In a large mixing bowl, combine 3 cups of flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
2.Heat water and Crisco in a saucepan until warm (about 110°F). Add the water and Crisco mixture to the dry ingredients and mix it until the dough forms.
3.Knead the dough on a floured surface for around 7-8 minutes until it becomes smooth.
4.Put the dough in a greased bowl and rest it for approximately 45 minutes until it becomes double in size.
5.Heat 6 cups of water in a saucepan and add baking soda to dissolve it.
6.Preheat the oven to 415°F (210°C). Prepare baking sheets by lining them with parchment paper.
7.Divide the dough into 12 equal portions and roll each into a rope shape. Twist each rope into a pretzel shape.
8.Dip each pretzel in the baking soda-water solution and place them onto the lined baking sheet.
9.Bake the pretzels for approximately 8-10 minutes or until golden brown. Once done, brush each with melted butter and serve warm.
