Ingredients

2 1/2 cups warm water
2 teaspoons honey or 1 teaspoon sugar
3 1/2 tablespoons active dry yeast
1 1/2 tablespoons salt

1/2 cup whole wheat flour

Instructions

1.In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, honey, and active dry yeast. Stir and let it sit for about 10 minutes.
2.Add salt, olive oil, whole wheat flour, and all-purpose flour to the mixture and stir it with a wooden spoon until the dough forms.
3.Take out the dough and knead it for about 10 minutes on a lightly floured surface. Shape the dough into a ball and put it in a large greased bowl. Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel and let it rest for an hour.
4.Preheat the oven to 450°F. Divide the dough into small balls and roll them into thin rounds. Place them on a lined or greased baking sheet and bake for about 5-7 minutes on each side.
5.Remove the pitas from the oven and serve hot or cooled as per your preference.
