1 1/2 cups cream
150 g treacle
150 g sugar
100 g butter
450 g flour
1/2 teaspoon pepper , ground
1/4 teaspoon ginger , ground
1/4 teaspoon anise , ground
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon , groun
3/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 egg white
100 g blanched almonds

Instructions

1.Melt sugar, treacle and butter in a saucepan.
2.Mix flour, pepper, ginger, anise, cinnamon, salt and baking soda in a separate bowl.
3.Stir the melted butter mixture into the dry ingredients and knead until a smooth dough forms.
4.Cover the dough and let it rest at room temperature for a couple of hours.
5.Preheat oven to 175°C.
6.Shape the dough into round cookies and place them on a parchment-lined baking tray.
7.Brush the cookies with lightly whipped egg white and sprinkle with chopped blanched almonds.
8.Bake in the oven for 15-20 minutes.
9.Remove from oven and let cool.
