12 large shrimp , peeled and deveined
3 tablespoons plain yogurt
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon garam masala
1 -2 tablespoon tomato puree
4 tablespoons coconut milk ( can substitute light cream )
1 teaspoon chili powder
3/4 cup water
2 garlic cloves , crushed
1 teaspoon ginger , grated
1 cinnamon stick , halved
4 cardamom pods
1 tablespoon vegetable oil or 1 tablespoon ghee
salt

Instructions

1.In a bowl, mix together plain yogurt, paprika, garam masala, tomato puree, coconut milk, chili powder, and salt.
2.Heat vegetable oil or ghee in a pan and add cinnamon stick and cardamom pods. Cook for a few seconds.
3.Add ginger and garlic and fry for a few seconds.
4.Add the shrimp and cook for 1-2 minutes.
5.Add the yogurt mixture and 3/4 cup of water, and stir well.
6.Cover the pan and cook for another 8-10 minutes until the gravy thickens.
7.Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with rice.
