Ingredients

1/4 cup butter
4 tablespoons sugar
1 cup self-rising flour
1/4 cup butter
2 tablespoons sugar
1 can condensed milk
1/4 cup pecans , chopped
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
4 ounces German sweet chocolate , melted in
1 tablespoon water
These Shortbread Toffee Squares are incredibly indulgent and perfect for a special occasion or holiday treat. The buttery shortbread crust provides the perfect base for the rich and sweet toffee layer made with condensed milk and pecans. The melty chocolate topping adds the perfect finishing touch to this decadent dessert. Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 350°F
2.In a mixing bowl, cream together 1/4 cup butter and 4 tbsp sugar until fluffy
3.Add in 1 cup self-rising flour and mix well to form a dough
4.Press the dough into a 9-inch square pan and bake for 20 minutes
5.While the crust is baking, prepare the toffee layer by melting 1/4 cup butter in a saucepan
6.Stir in 2 tbsp sugar and a can of condensed milk and cook over medium heat until thickened, stirring constantly
7.Remove from heat and stir in 1/4 cup chopped pecans and 1/2 tsp vanilla
8.Spread the toffee mixture over the baked crust and return to the oven for another 10-15 minutes, until golden brown
9.Melt the chocolate in a double boiler or microwave and stir in 1 tbsp water
10.When the toffee layer is done baking, spread the melted chocolate over the top and let cool before slicing into squares
