Shepherd's Pie is a traditional British dish that typically consists of a layer of minced meat and vegetables topped with mashed potatoes. It is thought to have originated in the 18th century as a way of using leftover roasted meat. The dish is often made with lamb, hence the name 'Shepherd's' pie. However, this recipe uses beef as the main ingredient. The minced beef provides a rich, savory flavor that is balanced by the sweetness of the onions and corn. Topped with creamy mashed potatoes and melted cheese, this dish is sure to become a family favorite.

Instructions

1.Peel and chop the potatoes into small chunks and add them to a large saucepan filled with salted water. Bring the water to a boil and cook the potatoes for 15 minutes or until they are tender.
2.While the potatoes are cooking, preheat the oven to 200°C.
3.In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the beef mince until brown and crumbly. Add the onions, minced garlic, and sliced mushrooms to the skillet and cook for about 5 minutes.
4.Drain the grease from the beef skillet. Add chili-garlic sauce, Worcestershire sauce, canned corn, and seasonings to the skillet. Stir until well combined and let it cook for another 5 minutes.
5.Once the potatoes are cooked through, drain them and return them to the pan. Add butter and milk to the pan and use a potato masher to mash the potatoes until smooth.
6.In a large baking dish, spread the beef mixture evenly across the bottom of the dish. Spoon the mashed potatoes on top of the beef mixture, then sprinkle grated cheese over the potatoes.
7.Bake the Shepherd's Pie in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
