Ingredients

2 cups flour , sifted
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon saffron
1 3/4 cups milk
1 teaspoon sugar
1 cup melted clarified butter ( Ghee )
Sheermal is a classic sweet bread that originated from Iran. It is believed to have been popularized during the Mughal period in India. Sheermal bread has a perfumed smell, and a crisp exterior. The saffron adds a distinct yellow hue to the bread and makes it tempting. It is typically served at special occasions such as Ramzan and Eid. It can be paired with any savory or sweet dish such as kebabs, nihari, qeema or even jam and butter

Instructions

1.In a large bowl, mix flour, salt and saffron
2.Add warm milk and sugar to the mixture and mix it well until it forms a dough
3.Knead the dough for 10-12 minutes until it becomes soft and smooth
4.Cover the dough with a damp cloth and set it aside for about 30 minutes
5.Preheat the oven to 350F and grease a baking tray with melted ghee
6.Pick a small ball of dough, using a rolling pin, flatten it until it forms an oval shape
7.Place it on the baking tray and brush the surface with melted ghee
8.Once all of them are arranged on the tray, bake them for about 12 - 15 minutes or until the bread turns golden brown
