Ingredients

2 teaspoons sesame oil , divided
10 leaves napa cabbage
1 package enoki mushrooms , stems trimmed
1/4 cup light soy sauce , divided
1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
1 teaspoon sugar
1 cup water
1 lb ground pork
1/2 cup water chestnut , minced
2 teaspoons fresh ginger , minced
2 teaspoons fresh garlic , minced
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 teaspoons shaoxing wine
Shanghai Style Lion's Head Meatballs is a traditional Chinese dish that originated in Shanghai, China. The dish is called Lion's Head as the meatballs resemble large lion heads and the bed of cabbage represents the lion's mane. Instructions

1.In a large mixing bowl, mix together ground pork, minced water chestnut, minced ginger, minced garlic and cornstarch.
2.Add 1 teaspoon sesame oil and shaoxing wine to the bowl and mix well.
3.Divide the mixture into 8 portions and shape them into meatballs.
4.In a large non-stick skillet, heat the remaining 1 teaspoon of sesame oil over medium-high heat.
5.Add napa cabbage and enoki mushrooms to the skillet and stir until softened.
6.Add 1/4 cup light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, sugar, and 1 cup of water. Stir well and bring to a boil.
7.Carefully add meatballs to the skillet and turn heat down to medium-low.
8.Cover and simmer for about 15-20 minutes. Turn meatballs once during simmering. Ensure that the internal temperature of the meatballs reaches 165°F.
9.Once cooked, transfer meatballs and vegetables to a serving dish, garnish with green onion, and serve hot.
