Ingredients

2 cups sesame seeds ( husked )
2 cups jaggery ( grated )
5 cardamoms ( in nos )
1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour ( atta )
2 teaspoons all-purpose flour ( maida )
1/2 cup dessicated dry coconut powder
8 saffron strands , dissolve in
1 teaspoon milk
oil , to roast
1 pinch salt
Sesame Poli is a traditional sweet dish that originated in South India. It is popularly consumed during festivals and special occasions. It is made by mixing roasted sesame seeds, jaggery, dry coconut powder, and cardamom powder, and is then stuffed and rolled into wheat flour dough. The preparation of this dish varies from region to region, and in some places, it is also made using rice flour. It is a perfect treat for those with a sweet tooth and is often savored with ghee. Instructions

1.Dry roast the sesame seeds until lightly golden, allow it to cool and grind it into a fine powder.
2.In a bowl, mix sesame powder, jaggery, crushed cardamoms, and coconut powder. Knead all these thoroughly to form a soft dough.
3.Make small balls of equal sizes from this dough and keep aside.
4.Mix whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, dissolved saffron, a pinch of salt, and required water in a separate bowl. Knead this into a soft, pliable dough.
5.Now, take one ball of the sesame-jaggery mixture and flatten it. Take a golf ball-sized dough of the whole wheat flour mixture and roll it out into a small circle approximately the size of your palm. Place the sesame-jaggery mixture on top of it and wrap it completely, sealing the edges nicely.
6.Roll out the dough gently to make polis.
7.Roast the rolled polis over medium heat on a non-stick tawa with a little oil until both sides are golden brown.
8.Serve hot or cold as suited.
