Ingredients

2 lbs caster sugar
2 tablespoons golden syrup
4 ounces butter
2 cups milk ( whole milk tastes better but semi-skimmed and skimmed milk work )
2 -3 drops vanilla extract ( vanilla essence will also work )

Instructions

1.Grease a square baking dish with butter
2.In a large, heavy-bottomed pan, combine the sugar, golden syrup, butter, and milk

4.Once the sugar has dissolved, bring the mixture to a boil and reduce the heat to a simmer
5.Stir continuously for 30-40 minutes until the mixture thickens and changes colour
6.Remove the pan from the heat and add the vanilla extract
7.Beat the mixture for a few minutes until it starts to set and thicken
8.Pour the mixture into the greased dish and let it cool
9.Once the tablet has cooled and set, cut it into squares and serve
