Ingredients

1 cup self-raising flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 pinch salt
1/2 cup oatmeal
2 tablespoons soft brown sugar
60 g margarine or 60 g butter
2 tablespoons treacle , golden syrup can be used as a substitute
1 egg
2/3 cup milk

Instructions

1.In a mixing bowl, sift together the self-raising flour, baking powder, and salt.
2.Add in the oatmeal and brown sugar, and mix together.
3.Add in the margarine/butter, treacle/golden syrup, egg, and milk. Mix well until batter is smooth.
4.Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat.
5.Using a spoon, drop the batter onto the pan to make small scones.
6.Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
7.Serve warm with jam or butter.
