1 cup buttermilk

1 teaspoon sugar

1/3 cup raisins or 1/3 cup currants
4 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon milk

These Scottish Buttermilk Oat Scones are a delightful treat for breakfast or brunch. They have a hearty texture and a slightly sweet flavor that pairs perfectly with a hot cup of coffee or tea. Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 425°F.
2.In a large bowl, combine oats and buttermilk. Let sit for 10-15 minutes.
3.In a separate bowl, whisk together oat flour, whole wheat flour, white flour, baking soda, sugar, and salt.
4.Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
5.Fold in the raisins or currants.
6.On a lightly floured surface, knead dough briefly, if necessary, and pat into a circle about ¾ of an inch thick.
7.Cut the circle into wedges.
8.Melt the butter and mix in the milk, cinnamon, and sugar.
9.Brush the cinnamon butter mixture over the scones.
10.Place the scones on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 13-15 minutes until brown.
11.Let cool on the pan for a few minutes and serve!
